DED Computer Program
This student-led program recycles and rehabs used, outdated and broken
computers and technology so that
it can be be re-distributed to members of the community who might not otherwise be able
to have a computer.
During the past three years we have been able to use salvaged parts and donated
systems to enable
many others to have a computer; single parents, flood victims, older adults and
people re-entering the job market.
Computers that have user information on them are cleaned
and the personal data is destroyed using
Department of Defense-level techniques and programs. Students who master
this skill are given a certificate in data destruction.
